AFRICAN CHILDREN’S CHOIR

A freewill offering will benefit the choir.

The African Children’s Choir™ is the ambassador for Africa’s neediest, most vulnerable children.
The Choir shows the world that its members, like the millions of abandoned and traumatised children in Africa, have beauty, dignity and unlimited potential and helps the children break away from the everyday cycle of poverty and hopelessness. Learn more at  africanchildrenschoir.com>>

RELAY-FOR-LIFE FUNDRAISER – The youth of FPC will be selling purple ribbon sun catchers to raise money for the 2010 Relay-for-Life team. Stop by the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall to order one. FPC member Rita Stringham will make the ribbons, and all proceeds will go to our Relay team. This will help reach our goal of $5,000. Each ribbon will sell for $10
LENT is the Old English word for spring. In almost all other languages, Lent's name is a derivative of the Latin term quadragesima or "the forty days." The traditional purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer — through prayer, penitence, almsgiving and self-denial — for the annual commemoration during Holy Week of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus, which recalls the events linked to the Passion of Christ and culminates in Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  In our reformed theology we see Lent as a time of renewal and rededication to our faith and works. This year’s Lenten study series will focus on experiencing our Sunday morning worship with new eyes and understanding. The theme is “The Route to Rote” and we will examine a part of worship each week that we do by rote. We will have a discussion after a light meal each Sunday evening beginning at 5 p.m. and encourage all to attend and bring a friend. Please plan on attending our Lenten studies by signing up on the bulletin board in the hallway so that we can properly plan enough food. Drinks and table service will be provided; you only need bring an appetite and a willing spirit. See you there.

DEACONS FOOD PANTRY

THE TRUMBULL FOOD COALITION has been serving the hungry in our county since 1983. Any food item donated to our Food Pantry through April 30 will help the coalition share in the $1 million give-a-way to fight hunger, which is sponsored by the Allen Shawn Feinstein Foundation. Please don’t forget the Food Pantry the next time you are out shopping.
Through September 15
MILES FOR MEALS

Did you know that 84,000 miles were driven and over 120,000 meals were served in 2008 by Trumbull Mobile Meals? TMM uses 50-60 volunteers daily and over 50,000 volunteer hours are donated per year. To help defray the costs, TMM has asked us to collect Miles for Meals money. In the outer office, on the window sill, there is a small van bank. Please prayerfully consider dropping your donations in the van. This fundraiser will continue until September 15, so save your change and let’s make a difference for the elderly of our community.
