CHURCH ARCHIVIST – Church archives are becoming
more useful and needed as people search their genealogy and research
historical events. Our Church archives are in need of organization; we
need someone who can preserve what is valuable and toss away things
that are of no use. Ideally, we would like two people to oversee this
project. If you are the curious type and like discovery and history or
if you know someone who would like to do this sort of thing, please
contact the Church Office at 330-393-1524.
FPC LOOKING FOR OFFICE VOLUNTEERS - Due to an increased work
load on our Administrative Assistant, we are looking for volunteers who
would be willing to work in the Church Office helping to copy, fold and
collate the weekly bulletin and the monthly Spire. Carol will hold
training classes so everyone interested can feel comfortable with the
machines. If you are interested, please contact her at the office
(330-393-1524) for more information.
Usher Captains Needed – We
are in need of Usher Captains for 2011. If you are available and are
interested in serving your Church family in this capacity, please sign
up on the designated sheet on the bulletin board outside the church
office.
Stamps for Mission Work in the Congo – The Presbytery Women’s
Association continues to save US Commemorative and foreign stamps to
raise money to help the Presbyterian Printing Press in the Congo, which
makes Bibles, hymnals and Christian Education materials. These stamps
also assist the Theological and Leadership Development in Jamaica. Cut
off your stamps, leaving a ˝ inch of envelope around them and drop them
off at the Church Office or give them to Marguerite Lovett, member of
the Presbyterian Women’s Association.

VISIT YOUR FRIENDS AT LAKE VISTA - We welcome anyone who would like to go
along to share time with those at Lake Vista. We meet on the
second floor of the apartment building third Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m.
Free Community Lunch - Under
the direction of the Deacons, this lunch, prepared alternately at FPC
and Christ Episcopal Church, is served at FPC by our church volunteers
the third Tuesday of each month. Afterwards, free groceries are given
to eligible recipients. If you would like to volunteer, contact Pat McCaughan or the church office.
SHAWL MINISTRY AND IN STITCHES will once again meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month.
We meet at the home of Susan Stahl from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In Stitches is
for anyone who wants to work on handwork such as cross stitching or
needlepoint; in fact, In Stitches has also started making baby bibs and
bookmarks for baptisms. Shawl Ministry makes shawls to celebrate
weddings and births and to offer comfort or cheer. Over the summer,
Shawl Ministry was asked to make walker bags for some of the residents
at Autumn Hills. We will again be working with Pat Catan’s in making
camouflage scarves for our soldiers. Anyone is welcome to join. We have
crochet and knit patterns. We have easy-to-use looms for those who
don’t know how to knit or crochet. For more information or if you have
any questions, see Susan Stahl.
