MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Committee night was weathered out on February 2 on Ground Hog Day. The prediction of an early spring had not taken effect yet. As this is written with new snow on the ground, it looks like a certain ground hog needs a tune up.

The Chili Cook-Off and the Youth Bake Sale on January 30, 2011, raised about $300 for the Relay-for Life team. We hope everyone enjoyed the chili. The winner was Chris Stringham. Shelly Straitiff was second again, and Chuck Chalker was third. It is just a coincidence that all the winners are on the Relay committee.

This committee will be starting to plan Alternative Christmas and considering local mission recipients at our March committee meeting.

Ash Wednesday is March 9, 2011. We hope that you consider the One Great Hour of Sharing offering that is collected during Lent each year. This offering reaches around the world to enable people to have a better life. Be generous.

The Covenant Gathering has announced the dates for 2011. The Gathering will again be at the Michindoh Conference Center; Hillsdale, Michigan; from July 4 to July 9, 2011. The web site is www.covenantgathering.com.

The recycling center on North River Road in Howland is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. There are other sites in Warren and around the county. We do not have the opening date for recycling on Enterprise Dr.

The committee will meet March 2, 2011, at 7:00 p.m.

Peace,
Mission Committee of FPC: Christopher Chuirazzi, Barb Copeland, Nina Pykare and Ray Rubrake
