Despite the frigid temperatures, the Mission Committee of the Board of Deacons is off to a vigorous and busy start. On Tuesday, February 15, 2011, they served a delicious meal of hash brown beef casserole, apple sauce, pickles, bread and butter, Jell-O salad, pumpkin pie/cake, peaches and beverages to 88 people. They also distributed 40 bags of groceries. We should all be very proud of the hard work and loyal dedication each and every one of our volunteers shows month after month. As the number of those in need grows, this is an important mission needed for our community. Kudos to all our volunteers!! Donations of paper products (i.e., toilet tissue, Kleenex, paper towels, etc.) are requested for March and may be placed in the Deacons’ box in Fellowship Hall.
The next Community Lunch and grocery distribution will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Anyone willing to help with the meal or the grocery distribution should contact the Church Office.
We continue to visit our friends and family members at Lake Vista in Cortland on the third Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m. We welcome anyone who would like to go along to share time with those at Lake Vista. We will meet on the second floor of the apartment building. We also will continue to visit our friends and family members at Shepherd of the Valley-Howland the last Sunday of the month beginning at 2:00 p.m. If you would like more information, please contact the Church Office.
